Generally cancer or heart diseases are treated in a onetime medical treatment or surgery for few months and post-operative expenses are not much. This is not the case for those who are in end-stage renal failure.

They have two options only

To be lifelong dialysis support or
Need to undergo renal transplant, followed by medications for life i.e. the patient has to be on immune-suppressant drugs so that body accepts and does not fight the organ.

Chronic Kidney disease never goes away and it can be exhausting and isolating for patients as well as their family. This is where Abhayam Kidney Care Trust steps in and helps those who need life-long drugs post-transplant. The main purpose is to give medical aid to those who with post transplantation. We have now expanded to reach out to larger community by conducting medical campus to screen for rental diseases.

We aim to increase the number of preventive measures / checks because

If a patient reaches end-stage renal diseases the cost of dialysis excluding medication is Rs. 10,000/- per month.
One year Post Rental Transplant, medication cost is estimated to be Rs. 6000/- Rs. 7000/- per month.
This is a huge burden for the family if drugs are not financially viable, as a result many transplant patients discontinue the usage which may result in organ failure and they may end up going through dialysis again.
The main aim of this trust to provide stability in the life of organ transplant patients by providing them counseling and funding their medication.
